Gustav = Katrina? I pray NOT!

So today is the THIRD anniversary of Katrina...hard to believe!!!! And now Gustav is moving in and then perhaps Hannah. (By the way, my Hannah is SO excited that there is a hurricane with her name...finally!)

Katrina was SO devastating to so many people and cities, not just New Orleans. I have family in both Mississippi and Louisiana who it really affected, as I'm sure many of you do. And now there is the possibility of more turmoil entering their lives. I am praying that the storm will turn away from the Gulf Coast area and will weaken. In August, we went down to the coast to visit my brother Patrick. While there, we drove around for awhile to see all the destruction that still remained. It was heart-wrenching!

So why am I talking about it now...and on this blog? Well, this new storm is hitting "close to home" already since my brother Stephen, who is in the Army National Guard in Louisiana, has already been called to active duty and sent to New Orleans! He was there for Katrina...IN the Super Dome...with the crazy crowd of people there, his life in real danger. I have read they are not opening the Dome again as a shelter...good! I am sure this brings back a lot of bad memories for Steve.

We love you, Stephen and are praying for you and thinking of you! I pray this storm will dissipate and end up being nothing...nothing like Katrina anyway! Thanks for serving our country, Stephen! You're one of our heros!
