The SOUTH Is HOT No Matter Where You Are!

Boy is it HOT! The heat index has been around 105 degrees lately! I think now that it's August, you are going to be able to fry an egg on the pavement no matter where you are in the South. I remember when I was a kid how we used to try that. Can it really be done? Find out here.

We also would have a contest to see who would run out into the street and stand the longest on the blazing hot pavement. What was the "prize" for the person who won the contest? BURNED FEET! I guess the sun had already fried our brains! You couldn't pay me to do that now. but kids will be kids.

What's your favorite memory of hot summer weather? Post a comment and let us know.

When I think of how hot it is in the south then I often think of the time I had a summer job at a chemical factory in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Part of my job was working in a team bottling liquid bromine. We worked in a low storage building without AC. It was brutally hot in there. To protect our hands from the burning bromine, we had to wear protective latex gloves. During the breaks I used to take off my gloves and pour the sweat out to fill up a glass. We had to drink quarts of water to survive!

Hey Daniel...thanks for posting your memory of a hot summer! Now that you have shared, I remember you doing this. I am so surprised that mom and dad let you work with chemicals like that! Didn't you have a chicken factory experience too or was that Stephen? Love, Sis
